Handcrafted Christmas Sales boosts Park Fund!
£954 in 2023 and £2,458 raised for the park so far...
It began as an idea during a coffee morning in December 2021 and in just one week a group of crafty Friends of the Park volunteers and members of the Hawk Green Reading Room Committee had organised and promoted a Handcrafted Christmas Sale on Friday 17 December that raised £573 for the park. Despite the Covid Pandemic rules, including masks and one-way systems, it was an amazing success thanks to many of our volunteers and supporters pitching in to make cakes, donate tombola prizes and to help out at the event.

Handcrafted Christmas Sale 2023 raised £954.24
Friends of Marple Memorial Park have to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along to spend their money at the 2023 Handcrafted Christmas Sale in Hawk Green Reading Room on 26 November, or purchased bulbs and stars in our pre and after-sales. We can now reveal that an amazing final total of £954 was raised for the Park Fund, just pipping last year's total!
Although many aspects of the event are easier to organise with two successes under our belt, we were doubtful we could top last year's result in the current financial climate. So it's with great pleasure that we report the numbers above. Contributions to this fantastic total included £241 from the Tombola, £218 from Jewellery and Christmas Decorations by B'Dazzled, £120 from stallholders, £117 from the Cake Sale, £106 from handmade cards and gifts and a £50 donation from a lady called Ann, who makes cushions.
We have also included pre and after-sales income of £55 from wooden stars and bags of bulbs in this year's figures.
Thank you to our wonderful volunteers and supporters who helped out and the good folk who look after the Reading Room, which is a fabulous little venue. They were extremely supportive from start to finish. Special mentions are due to Diane Jackson and Gill Whittaker for their organising and making, Pauline Roberts for her tireless support, Ann for her generous donation and Steve Condliffe for making the wooden stars. Special thanks also to our lovely stallholders, who we suspect spent most of their profits on the tombola!
Handcrafted Christmas Sale 2022 raised £930.57

Contributions to this included £220 from the Tombola, £115 from the Cake Sale, £170 from Jewellery and Christmas Decorations by B'Dazzled, £122 from sales of Bird boxes and Reindeer and £93 from handmade cards, Christmas tags and Christmas Tree Pyramids.
